Stocking the Fridge: Before and After

After not grocery shopping for longer than I care to admit, I FINALLY restocked my fridge. It looks so much better.

Before:

  • Cheeses, salsa, mayo, cat food, expired dishes/veggies, maple syrup, water

After:

  • Top shelf: ground beef, ground turkey, steaks, bacon, quail
  • Middle shelf: eggs, grapes
  • Lower shelf: olives, tomatos, red leaf lettuce, boston lettuce, kale, carrots, lemons, cucumber, broccoli
  • Left drawer: cauliflower, green pepper, red pepper, onions more broccoli
  • Right drawer: grapefruit, apples, pumpkin

Thank god for the farmers’ market! Continue reading

Back to Sanity (Day 7 Breakfast)

I definitely wasn’t the only one feeling the effects of cheat day. Twitterers everywhere were complaining about the side effects of cheat day. Yuck! And the effects of binge day were undeniably expected.

From 4HB Team

Right. Gross. Now that I’ve had my supplements and breakfast though, I’m feeling much, much better.

8 oz black beans mixed with vegetables, and 1.5 full egg + 1 egg white omelet with turkey bacon

Now doesn’t that just look much healthier? It felt much healthier on my belly too.

Breakfast totals

Since eating I haven’t had any cramps and my energy level has increased dramatically. That’s a good thing too, because it’s beginning to sound like we need to go back to the grocery store already, and do it before lunch. We’re already running out of some supplements and we’re almost completely out of veggies, which is absolutely required for taco salad. The list:

Supplements:

Alpha-Lipoic Acid
Green Tea Flavanols
Vegetables:
Cauliflower
Broccoli
String beans
Lettuce
Peppers
Meats:
2.5 dozen eggs
Turkey Bacon
Chicken

I doubt (seriously hope) that this is going to be another $100 grocery run. I don’t think I could afford it right now, especially since Lilly Pulitzer is on Rue La La! Yes, I bought myself a sundress. And I promise, promise, promise to be good for at least a few weeks so that my wallet can recover from my fashion addiction.

Until later this evening!

Discouraged Already (End of Day 3)

I suppose it’s normal to have ups and downs with a diet, but I have been on the 4HB for three. Days. Three days. I love the food and I’m not craving carbs at all (though I am getting some), but the act of preparing and paying for everything is incredibly time consuming and expensive.

The fact that I am sore from exercising is probably what is making me so grumpy. After being able to do 7/8 minute miles pretty easily a year ago, I am huffing and puffing. From 1.5 miles. In 22 minutes. Yikes. I am stopping a lot to walk, not even holding full speed for .2 of a mile, and am using worse and worse posture as the time dwindles on. I need some pep, people! I need to get back into shape!

After running, strength training my lower body was m.u.r.d.e.r. Luckily I have tomorrow off.

Lower body workout

Food is an entirely other matter. Today I went out to Whole Foods and Walmart to resupply… and ended up with an $100 grocery bill. Yikes! I thought this diet was supposed to be less expensive!

The Shopping Lists

Luckily the food I ate was good :).

Taco Salad (Lunch)

Faux mashed potatoes (this time with great northern beans) and beef stir fry

4-Hour Body Beef Stir Fry
1/4C Soy Sauce
1.5T Balsamic vinegar
10 oz lean beef, sliced into edible strips
10 chopped baby carrots
10 flowerets of cauliflower
1/2 Vidalia onion
1 green pepper
1 package Sunbird Stir Fry Seasoning Mix
Olive oil

Chop all vegetables into edible morsels. In a stir fry pan, head the olive oil. Then, sear the beef until you can’t see any pink on the outside. Slowly add the vegetables in the following order: onions, baby carrots, cauliflower, green pepper. In a separate bowl, mix the stir fry mix, balsamic vinegar, and soy sauce. Once a smooth thin sauce, pour into pan and stir fry for 3-4 minutes. Enjoy!

Beginning Measurements

My beginning measurements are as follows:

Age: 21
Weight: 137
Height: 5’1″
Body Fat: 35.22%
BMI: 25.9
Neck: 12 3/4″
Right Upper Arm: 11 1/4″
Left Upper Arm: 10 7/8″
Waist: 33″
Around Belly Button: 35″
Hips: 38″
Right Leg: 20.5″

Yikes. I can’t believe I have a 5″ difference between my waist and my hips! Gross! Okay, well hopefully those will be the first to go. Either way, Aaron and I went out supplement and grocery shopping today after ridding our pantry of everything anticarb (okay, mostly ridding… we’re saving a few things for our cheat days!). The total bill came to be $150, including all supplements and food for the week (taco salad every day? Get ready…). Tomorrow, we begin. Tonight, we dine!
