Cheat Day Recovery (Day 49)

I always find that I’m not hungry the day after cheat day. Today I haven’t felt sick, as has been the case with previous Sundays, but I’m shocked at how little I’ve eaten without feeling deprived at ALL.

My boyfriend brought me breakfast in bed! So sweet. Eggs and turkey bacon (Breakfast).

Two chicken thighs, lentils, and steamed vegetables (Dinner).

Belated Cheat Day Post (Day 48)

Sorry for the late post today, guys. I got really slackerish because I was having so much fun yesterday! Pics from my camera and from online (I know, I cheated).

Girls’ Night In (Day 47)

Sorry for the late and brief post tonight. I just got back from a girls’ night in. It was really nice because the hostess (who writes 50lbordietrying) insisted that people bring paleo-accepted foods (aka slow carb!) and gluten free products. That way, I didn’t have that hard a time turning down food that I couldn’t eat!

On a non-diet related note, I watched Hot Fuzz for the first time at this event. If you have not seen this movie, go! go! go! It’s soo good!

Feeling Badass (Day 46)

I’m somehow feeling sleepy but energized, probably because I just finished climbing. I’m pretty proud of myself: I did a 5.6, four 5.8’s, and two 5.8+’s. Who’s a badass? I’m a badass.

Actually in general I’ve been feeling pretty great about myself. Atlanta has been warm this past week, so I’ve broken out some slimmer-fitting shirts so that my curves can be accentuated. I think I can finally really tell that I’ve lost weight, and I’ve mentioned earlier I’m pretty excited for Saturday’s weigh-in (excited for a weigh-in, what?).

Speaking of Saturday, cheat day, I have some plans. I’m going to eat lunch at Java Monkey, finally see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, eat some marvelous popcorn, and then attend a going-away party for one of my friends. The only food that I’ve really been craving are Thin Mints Girl Scout Cookies. Some girls at my college have major connections that I need to take advantage of.

I WILL Fit Into This Dress (Day 45)

For those of you who have been with me since the beginning (thank you!!), you might remember this purchase: the Lilly Pulitzer “Franco” Prep Green Dress.

The Pretty Dress

I, however, have yet to wear this dress. It’s been sitting, lonely, in the depths of my closet, waiting for someone to wear her. I haven’t even clipped the tag yet!

The dress I have never worn, tag included.

Why did I buy a dress back in January and still haven’t worn it yet (besides the obvious fact that it’s a sundress)? It’s a size four. I am currently a size six. That means that this dress, my dress, is a goal dress. Like people work towards fitting in to their old favorite jeans or aim to lift 200lbs, I want to fit into this article of clothing by the end of the semester. It’s entirely doable.

So blogosphere, meet Goal Dress. I will try her on when my waist is below 27″ and my hips are below 35″. This is entirely doable.

Food today was good.

Holy Guacamole: Cannoli! (Day 44)

TEMPTATION

This is the temptation I had to face today when I entered my school’s leadership program this afternoon. Stacks upon stacks of uneaten, delicious cannoli. The photo is of my friend’s cannoli, who said that it was two heavy and sweet for her to eat. That meant that it just sat on the table, wafting into my nose and beckoning to me as I had to wait for the program to end.

I know, first world problems, right? The temptation was killing me, but I managed to make it through. Go me!

Addicted (Day 43)

Wednesday will be a big day for me. It’s my deadline to finish my college’s Writers’ Festival magazine design. For anyone who’s an artist, I have nine prints to finish. I’m not working alone though; though I’m the “art director,” I’m also working with a collager, photographer, and two people who are very good at InDesign.

Despite working with an amazing team, I am slammed with a lot of work. This afternoon, after spending much of yesterday and today on the project, I told myself to stop, take a deep breath, and take some time to myself. I’m going to meet Wednesday’s deadline come hail or hellfire, and I’m willing to sacrifice two hours of sleep for a little me-time.

Amazingly, me-time didn’t include vegging on the couch, sitting and drawing, or writing. Instead, I headed out to the gym to climb, an activity that I normally save for Fridays.

More importantly, I am choosing to exercise as a form of relaxation. As a student, it can be super tempting after a long day to just melt into the office chair, waiting for homework to go away or for someone to call to go out. Not tonight.

Tonight, I climbed for myself, for fun. I’m hoping that the emphasis on physical activity in my life will continue!

For the climbing geeks out there, I’m actually very proud of myself. I did four full runs including a warm-up, three of which were 5.8s (I had been struggling since I’m just getting back into climbing)! I have two runs that I couldn’t get in addition to the four—one is a 5.8, and the other is a 5.8+. I’m looking forward to Thursday, the next time Im climbing, to try again!

As most Saturdays go, I ate a lot of junk, hung out with friends, and drank a little towards the end of the day. Now fully recovered (it being the END of Sunday, the END of the weekend, and the BEGINNING of the long, long workweek), I am ready to reveal the heart attack’s worth of food I had during cheat day.

Observe, careful reader:

There are some pretty significant lifestyle differences between cheat day and normal days. On cheat days, the food tracks were I go, and everything revolves around planning food, eating, and getting as much in as possible. On normal days, what I eat doesn’t depend on where I go. It’s pretty similar day-to-day.

Ironically, I lost a little bit when I stepped on the scale this morning. Hooray for squats and Tim Ferriss’s magic? Only next Saturday will tell!

Considering I started my monthly today, I’m not at all upset with these numbers… minus my body fat going up. My guess is that the calculation was reacting to gaining .5″ in my hips, which is (hopefully) all water weight.
